Not to be read before dinner!
If you think your wheelie bin is bad, trust us, we’ve seen worse.
At Freshbinz Ltd, we spend our days cleaning wheelie bins, so we’ve developed a fairly strong stomach. We’ve battled mystery smells, suspicious sludge and enough maggots to make even the bravest member of the team reconsider their career choices.
Here are a few of the memorable ones.
The bin that moved…
Nothing quite prepares you for opening a bin and seeing something move. We’ve had plenty of encounters with insects and other unwanted visitors, but discovering a bin had effectively become a five-star restaurant for rats was a particularly memorable experience.
The good news? Once the waste was removed and the bin was professionally cleaned and sanitised, our unwanted guests had very little reason to return.
Maggot central
Warm weather and food waste can create the perfect conditions for flies to lay eggs. Before long, those tiny eggs can turn into a wriggling mass of maggots.
We’ve seen bins where the contents looked as if they were moving independently. It’s unpleasant, but it’s also a good reminder that regularly cleaning your bin isn’t just about making it smell nicer.
Our eco-friendly cleaning process uses high-pressure water to thoroughly clean the inside and outside of your bin, helping remove the organic residue that attracts flies and other pests.
The mystery sludge
Then there are the bins where nobody knows exactly what happened.
We’ll occasionally open a bin and find a thick layer of mysterious, foul-smelling liquid at the bottom. Food waste, rainwater and leaked rubbish can combine to create what we affectionately call “bin soup”.
It’s one of those smells you don’t forget.
How do we survive?
Years of experience, a decent sense of humour and the right equipment certainly help. More importantly, we clean bins thoroughly rather than simply giving them a quick rinse.
Freshbinz Ltd provides an environmentally conscious wheelie bin cleaning service designed to leave your bin cleaner, fresher and much less appealing to pests.
So, if your bin has reached the stage where you’re afraid to open the lid, don’t worry. We’ve probably seen worse.
And if you’d rather leave the rats, maggots and mystery sludge to someone else, that’s exactly what we’re here for.
